The project scope involved the design and manufacture of lightweight exterior facade panels for a two-floor building extension in Candlewick, East London. The extension required a seamless integration with the existing structure, making the selection of materials and facade design crucial. Additionally, the new facade featured both dormer windows and faceted panel sections, adding complexity to the design while maintaining the building's architectural integrity.
Our Cristolite™ lightweight facade system was essential to minimize the additional loading on the original building. The lightweight nature of the panels allowed for a safe and effective installation, significantly reducing the potential strain on the older structure.
Material selection was another critical aspect of the project. It was important to choose a stone that closely matched the existing Portland stone facade to ensure a cohesive and visually harmonious appearance. After careful consideration, Moleanos stone with a honed finish was selected. This stone not only provided the necessary aesthetic match but also offered durability and resistance to environmental factors. Additionally, the honed finish enhanced the stone’s natural beauty, ensuring that the new facade would blend seamlessly with the original building.
Throughout the project, our team worked closely with architects and engineers to ensure that the facade panels met all design specifications and performance requirements. The precision in manufacturing and attention to detail were paramount, especially in the creation of the faceted panels and dormer window sections. Ultimately, the successful execution of this project highlighted our expertise in delivering high-quality, lightweight facade solutions that meet both aesthetic and structural demands.
